Maine Seacoast Mission
Please read carefully: Without in person worship there are several changes to our Seacoast Mission Gift Collection. Since we will not be in the church to have collection bins, we reached out to the Mission to find out how individuals who would like to participate could do so on their own. Anna Silver, who works in Development at the Mission, was kind enough to send us these three ways:
- There is an Amazon account with a wish list. You can choose an item and it will ship directly to the Mission. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1V3LB3G19X56U
- For those who would like to shop and then mail gifts directly to Maine Seacoast Mission, here is the Seacoast Mission Gift List. Unwrapped gifts may be mailed to: P.O. Box 428, 6 Weald Bethel Lane, Cherryfield, ME 04662.
- People can send checks to the Mission (subject line: Christmas Program) to Maine Seacoast Mission, P.O. Box 600, Northeast Harbor, ME 04662.
Each year at Christmastime, the Mission distributes about 10,000 holiday gifts to more than 3,200 people in the Downeast and Maine Island areas. They also operate the “Elves’ Workshop” in the Weald Bethel Community Center, where people can choose the gifts they would like to give to their families. The pandemic has only heightened the need in these island communities. Please be as generous as you can. The support from our church is always greatly appreciated!
Hello from your Missions Committee to all of our church members and friends!
It’s been seven months since we have worshipped together in person and we pray that you are well and surviving these difficult times.
As the weather cools and the leaves fall, we know the holiday season is approaching. And that season does not stop for a virus. Our community still needs the love and generosity of the Wells Congregational Church to provide gifts and necessities through our Christmas Angel Outreach Program.
When we all were able to attend Sunday worships, our committee would hang the “angel” tags along the front of the church and those who were able, would take one home, buy that gift and bring it back, unwrapped for our committee to wrap and distribute.
Of course that cannot happen this year. S0…we will have the “angel” tags available for pickup in the church parking lot from 10am to noon on the following Saturdays: 10-31, 11-7, and 11-14. Please return your UNWRAPPED gift, with the angel tag attached, to the church parking lot from 10:00am to noon on the following Saturdays: 11-21 and 11-28.
If you wish, you may make a cash donation to this project via mail. You can send a check to the church (Congregational Church of Wells, PO Box 759, Wells, ME 04090) making a note on the memo line “Christmas Angel Project”.
This truly is a work in progress and we are asking for your generous and loving support, as we all travel this unknown path to fulfilling Christ’s calling to always help the “least among us”.
